Royal wedding!

As that's what's been going on for a while now in all the newspapers and all the channels, I thought it would be a good idea to add to the commotion.
Date April 29th-2011
It just feels like the brit's live in a fairytale, totally oblivious to the world and it's happenings.
They are happy rambling on and I really mean ON about how pretty her dress is, how pretty the colour is, what shoes she's wearing, what make up she had on, what did she eat the night before, the day after and it just doesn't stop.
The whole country paused their lives for one whole day, in preparation and anticipation of a wedding, that's right, I said it!, in preparation of A wedding which to the rest of the world looked like, 2 normal people who by pure luck and luck alone happened to be associated with the royal family vowed to spend their lives together in a extravagent wedding.

Right, it's been 3 weeks already, but the country hasn't had enough yet. The rest of the world has moved on with IPL matches and Osama's death, but you still here news about the wedding and as the 'main' points were already tounched upon, what remains now is why Prince Harry was limping, whom Prince Harry is dating and Pippa's back side (?!), and all this news with such laborious detail that you would almost think that each of this is a whole event by itself.

The point is that, royality has come to being totally pointless.

  1. I think this is unfair and inaccurate. This is a big part of British culture and although the Royals don't have the same impact in India, they are a part of history in Britain for thousands of years. They will be the future King and Princess of England. If you look at other countries that still have royalty, you will see how much they appear in the media too.

Also, which sources are you looking at? Are you looking at British sources or American or at Indian Media? This will show how much the world is interested. The royalty are not only part of tradition but a huge drive for tourism, global relationships and revenue and satisfy a celebrity focused culture every country now has. How can you say it's pointless? Based on what?

If the media are publishing it so much it's because they know there is a demand for it.

  2. There are two points that I'm trying to make here.
    1) about the amount of money that's being spent on this sort of an event, and to think of it, it's actually hard working tax payers money that's going into probably buying a grand gown for the bride. Is that how you want to see your money spent.
    2) yes, I agree the royalty is big and it is to keep up the culture. So it is great to have the coverage for the wedding in such a grand scale, but to go on about it for after so long and using the excuse of the wedding to delve upon unimportant details is what is not acceptable. Especially when there are far more bigger concerns and worries in the world which people would actually want to know about.
