Dubai vs India

  • No elections, no waste of time, effort and money, no false promises. I don't even have to start with the Indian equivalent of the same.
  • The ruler doesn't have to spend time strategizing ways to keep his seat, as if not his, it'll be one of his family. Here more brains, think tanks.. et al are used to plan ways to win an election than is done to improve the city.
  • As the rule has been coming down from generations, the king would take personal pride in seeing the city of his family grow unlike here in India where a flyover is built by congress just because an underpass was built by bjp with zero planning and foresight.
  • The king owns most of the city, and if need be he gives his own money for the development of the city. Thus has a lot of respect from the residents. In aka India, every politician is trying to be a king and is trying to acquire land/property by shelling out money from the residents pockets. So it's reverse synergy in motion here.
  • Even though the local group is a minority, they have made it clear who the boss is so even though everyone is allowed to do their thing and live life the way they want it, the basic rules of Islam have to be followed by everyone which in fact is not a big inconvenience. Back home, everyone tries hard to prove which group is more local than the other and thus who s rules are more important than the others and in this quest end up breaking the remaining rules.

So even though democracy seems like a cool rule, doesn't seem like it's doing too good in a country like India with a vast population.
But then Hey!, I wouldn't have been able to put up this article if not for democracy :)

In India we are excessively democratic, we need a tinge of communism on top of democracy. In China all the major roadside lands are owned by govt and leased to people. So in future if they want to widen the road/extend/build flyover govt will just cancle the lease. But in India individual people who own lands create problem.

But consider the below facts about Dubai Islamic laws.

Reply to "the basic rules of Islam have to be followed by everyone which in fact is not a big inconvenience."
In Islamic law a man can marry(keep) only 4 wives!. He cant marry more, but he can do that only after divorcing existing wives!!!. Do you consider that convenient Dpt??? :P

There wont be access to access to lawyers if you do something wrong. Only judge will be present in court and all procedings will be in Arabic!

Men and women, who are not blood relatives nor legally married, and have shared a room or even sat in tinted cars, are jailed and deported. Fornication is ruled out. I wonder what will happen if guy and gal are stuck in a lift.

A woman in Dubai was found guilty of manslaughter after she was involved in a car crash which led to the death of her unborn child. The woman was 9 months pregnant when she was involved in a multi-vehicle collision last October. However the judge decided that upon his interpretation of Islamic law, the woman could be found guilty of manslaughter because she failed to keep a safe distance from the car in front and was therefore fined US$5450 as blood money for an "unintentional homicide".(In Saudi women are not allowed to drive at all!. A friend of mine once told a story where a male doctor was not allowed to touch a pregnant wife in critical condition. The women's husband told the doctor 'better she dies than you touching her'. But Dubai is not like that).

There are just few facts. Good thing is UAE is becoming more liberal towards women and they are growing well economically.
